Ingredients
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 jalapeno pepper, finely diced
- 2 tablespoons canola oil
- 2 pounds 96% lean ground beef
- 3 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 tablespoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 3 tablespoon flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 (10 oz) can diced tomatoes & green chilies
- 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
- 2 (15 oz) cans pinto beans, rinsed & drained
Instructions
- In large Dutch oven, sauté onions, garlic and diced jalapeno in oil. Add ground beef and brown over medium heat.
- In small bowl, mix together chili powder, oregano, cumin, flour and salt. Add to meat and cook, stirring constantly for 2 minutes.
- Add diced tomatoes and green chilies, tomato sauce and 2 - 4 cups water. Simmer, covered, for 30 minutes over low heat.
- Add additional water to adjust to desired consistency. Add pinto beans and simmer another 10 minutes.
