Ingredients
- 1 ½ pounds boneless sirloin steak, trimmed
- ¼ cup flour, divided
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
- 2 tablespoons canola oil
- 1 (16 oz) can diced tomatoes
- ½ cup each chopped celery, onion and carrots
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Cut sirloin into 4 (6 ounce) pieces.
- In medium bowl, combine 2 tablespoons flour, salt and pepper and dredge steak in flour mixture. Place oil in large skillet over medium high heat and brown steak on both sides. Remove from skillet and place in lightly greased 9x13-inch baking dish; set aside.
- Add 2 tablespoons flour to pan drippings; cook over medium heat for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Add tomatoes, celery, onion and carrots; cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Stir in Worcestershire sauce.
- Pour mixture over steak. Cover and bake at 325 degrees for 1½ hours or until steak is tender.

I tried this recipe yesterday. I used sirloin steak and followed the recipe exactly and it was terrible. The mean was tough and the “sauce” looked more like soup. Sorry but I won’t be making this again. Speaking of soup I cut up the meat, poured the tomato sauce in a pan, added beef broth and some spices to make soup so I wouldn’t have to waste this food. We haven’t eaten of of the soup yet so I can’t say if it will be liked or not.
