This month we have been celebrating National Nutrition Month and have been discussing how to take charge of our taste buds.

Key messages we would love for you to remember:

  • Re-train your taste buds to crave the flavor of fresh rather than fast food.
  • Taste buds decrease as we age; try using ingredients with bold flavors to improve the taste of your food rather than adding sugar and salt. Ingredients such as garlic, onion, sharp cheese, vinegars, hot chilies and citrus are wonderful additions that offer an amazing flavor to the food you love.
  • A healthy lifestyle is more about moderation than deprivation. Healthy changes should be maintained throughout the rest of our lives rather than temporarily.
  • Our bodies rely on healthy fat to function properly. We recommend consuming fat in moderation as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Hopefully this month, we have encouraged you to think about the food choices you make. If you have begun taking small steps to a healthier lifestyle we would love to hear about it!
