Ingredients
For the Marinade:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 orange, juiced (about ¼ cup juice)
- 1 lime, juiced (about 2 tablespoons juice)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 chipotle peppers in Adobo sauce
For the Steak:
- 1 (1.5-2 pound) flat iron steak, trimmed of visible fat
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- Fresh cilantro and lime wedges, for garnish
Instructions
- In a blender or food processor, blend together marinade ingredients until smooth. Place steak in a 9x13-inch dish and tenderize with a fork (5-10 pokes per side). Pour marinade over the steak. Cover and refrigerate 6-8 hours, or overnight.
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat (about 400 degrees F). Remove steak from marinade and season with salt, cumin, and chili powder on both sides.
- Place steak on grill and sear for 5-6 minutes per side (for medium-rare), or longer depending on desired doneness. Remove from grill and allow to rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing into strips.
- Serve as desired w/ fresh lime wedges and chopped cilantro.
