Do you ever feel stretched beyond what you feel able to do?
If so, I’d like to take time out on this Father’s Day weekend to remind you that you are not left alone to deal with life’s challenges. God stretches us to grow us into all He has created us to be. TobyMac has a powerful new song I hear often on KLOVE that speaks to my heart in such a powerful way! He puts into words the overwhelming feeling of being in over our heads that many of us experience on a daily basis.
…You gave me the stars, put them out of my reach
Called me to waters a little too deep
I’ve never been so aware of my need
You keep on making me see
It’s way beyond me
You take me to the place where I know I need You
Straight to the depths that I can’t handle on my own
You take me to the place where I know I need You
Take me to Your great unknown…
About a year ago, my brother had a job change and moved my sister-in-law half way around the world to a foreign land to start a new life. This song has become their anthem. This week I have a client who is going on mission trip with her daughter’s high school group to pick up debris in the aftermath of a hurricane for 7 days and has to wear snake guards for protection! I gave her the words to this song! One of my dear patients’ husband has Parkinson’s dementia. For her every day is a mental, physical and emotional challenge. I hope this song lifts her up and surrounds her with peace. Maybe you have a parent or an adult child who has moved back home or you’ve just gotten a bad health diagnosis, or you are fighting a difficult battle at home or at work – this song is for you!
To all the Dads (and Moms!) out there who are pushing every day to do more and be more than they have the energy to do, take time on this special weekend to be still and rest in God’s wonderful promise! Life can be challenging, but God is using our daily struggles to grow us to be all he created us to be!
Give yourself the weekend off! Enjoy a cookout with Dad! This week’s recipe for Grilled Ginger-Lime Red Snapper is fantastic! Grill some fresh corn, cut a watermelon and chill! You deserve it!
