Last week, we sought out the opinion of Dr. Michael Wargovich, Director of Cancer Prevention at UT Health Science Center, regarding the benefits of green tea and ginger.
Green tea contains antioxidants known as flavonoids. One of the most researched flavonoids found in green tea is EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate). It has been shown to have effective anti-inflammatory benefits as well as reduce the risk for cancer. The most potent form can be found in brewed tea bags, second to loose-leaf tea.
Ginger, also referred to as 6-gingerol, is also a natural anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer compound. Gingerol is found in fresh ginger which is a wonderful addition to many foods and/or beverages.
If you suffer from inflammation think about how to incorporate these two items into your daily routine!
